Wildlife Viewing

The largest unpredated herd of woodland caribou known are found on the Slate Islands and thrive there due to the lack of predators.  They can sometimes be seen swimming across the bay or walking along the shore.

Wildlife commonly found in the region include black bear, moose, deer, fox, owls, wolves, lynx, geese, ducks, hummingbirds, skunks, chipmunks, porcupines, squirrels, rabbits, grouse, peregrine falcons, bald eagles, loons, monarch butterflies, beavers, mink, otters, martens, and muskrats.
